FAQ

Where is your office located? (And do you offer telehealth?)

I am only in the physical office one day a week (Tuesdays). You can find me in my virtual office the rest of the time. It’s incredibly comfortable and conveniently located in your living room, bedroom, or sometimes car.

My office is in Calabasas, right at the corner of Mulholland Highway and Mulholland Drive. My physical office address is 22231 Mulholland Highway, Calabasas, CA 91302. There’s plenty of parking in a dedicated lot. Plus, if therapy makes you hungry, there’s a Gelson’s supermarket a few steps away.

What are your hours? (And do you work Saturdays?)

I’m usually available Tuesday through Saturday, 10 am – 6 pm. Many people work regular 9 am – 5 pm jobs, and sometimes, taking a break in the middle of the day can be tricky, so yep, I work Saturdays.

I’ll do my best to work with your schedule.

How do I pay? (And do you take insurance?)

My preferred method of payment is a credit card. You’ll receive your secure client portal, where you can enter your credit card number.

I have chosen to work outside the insurance system. This decision wasn’t made lightly, but with your care at the forefront.

When we work together directly without being in the insurance system:

  • Our therapeutic relationship stays private, with no diagnostic labels or details shared with insurance companies.
  • We can focus on your needs rather than what insurance deems “medically necessary.”
  • We can work together as long as needed and not just until arbitrary session limits are reached.
  • My full attention goes to your care rather than paperwork and insurance requirements.

I understand this means considering the financial aspect of therapy differently. I’m committed to making this work for you through options like sliding scale fees (see below) and superbills that may allow for reimbursement from your insurance provider.

This approach allows me to provide the most authentic, personalized care possible. I’m always happy to discuss this further and answer any questions.

Can I cancel? (And how often do I have to come to sessions?)

Life happens, so cancellations happen. I understand, but I ask that you give me 48 hours’ notice for a cancellation because I hold that time and date specifically for you. Giving me 48 hours’ notice allows me time to fill that spot. In the spirit of being human and s!*t happens, the first time you miss a session or do not give me 48 hours’ notice, we’ll call it a wash. A credit card must be in your secure client portal to secure your first session.

Therapy only works (shockingly) if you come! Most sessions are weekly, but sometimes bi-weekly works best (depending on schedule, financial limitations, family, and other assorted curveballs).

When we talk, we’ll make sure this is the right time for you to start therapy so you’re able to attend regularly.

Can I talk with you first? (And is there a consultation fee?)
I’d love to chat with you first, and I prefer that. There’s only so much you can learn about me from this website, and I’d love to know a bit about you before we start. So yes, 100% – let’s chat (we can do Zoom or phone). It’s free!
What should I know about how we’ll work? (And what should I expect?)
Our work will be very change-forward. I can almost guarantee you that I will start every session by asking what you did differently in the past week that supports your goals. We’ll develop experiments regularly (I don’t assign “homework” – we collaborate on meaningful, personally tailored practices that you will work on together outside of session) so that you can discover what helps.
What would be your superpower?
Always saying the right thing. (I think flying would be cool, but I think I’d be chilly.)
Why are you dressed so casually?

Please come as you are; I always hope you will accept me as I am! “Working for myself means dress codes are self-imposed (and I’m a lenient boss).”

Love jeans and T-shirts.

Do you swear?
Like a pirate. Did you know that some research shows that swearing helps reduce pain and anxiety?
One word to describe yourself? Don’t think, just go!

Disarming, authentic.

That’s two.

I know. I like words.
